This week we're going over the basics of "Sociocracy" and doing a quick demonstration of a sociocratic decision-making process. The working agenda:

Facilitator: Rachel
Notetaker: volunteer or Rachel

  1. Check-ins round. Does anyone need to leave early or can everyone stay for the full hour?

  2. Sociocracy basics: circles, aims, roles, rounds, reports, proposals, consent, objections, questions, reactions. "Is it good enough for now, safe enough to try?"

  1. Demo: Report, Proposal, Questions, and Decision

Report: basics of sociocracy and "S3"
Proposal: Let's use sociocracy or "S3"
    Questions round
    Decision round (consent or object)
Objection: e.g., "This might slow us down"
Revise proposal: e.g., "How about a 3 month trial with it and then we re-evaluate?"
    Questions round
    Decision round

  2. Updates/reports round (if time allows)

  3. Set working process for agendas. Proposal: In shared Agenda/Minutes document, add any non-urgent items before meeting. Facilitator of the next meeting orders the items. Items that don't fit in the hour get added to next week's agenda or delegated to a sub-circle in the interim.

  4. Check-outs at 6:00 PM
